Mrs Sealey is a passionate and dedicated professional with over thirty years’’ experience of working in the education sector in the UK and internationally.
Her core belief is that every child and young person matters and that students come to us with a wide range of needs and “gifts/talents” and must be supported and challenged to enable them to fulfil their own individual potential.
Mrs Sealey believes that learners benefit from a broad, creative curriculum which meets the needs of the individual - academically, physically, socially and emotionally. She is aware that when students are excited about something they have seen or experienced, they become inspired to achieve their best. The feeling of success and a nurturing, caring environment, based on Growth Mindset principles enable and empower students to grow and develop the skills, competencies, knowledge and understanding that they will need to self-actualise, make positive contributions to the communities in which they live and serve and ultimately to achieve their goals and dreams.
Mrs Sealey is a strong advocate of collaborative and partnership working with colleagues, parents and outside organisations and agencies and has taken a lead on building and developing successful networks, teams and working parties to achieve shared goals, making a positive difference to the lives and outcomes of young people and communities. She has seen first-hand the benefits of building and developing positive relationships, built on trust and mutual respect in order to create and develop professional teams, comprised of reflective practitioners who embrace the idea of life-long learning. In her experience teams need to be humanistic, affiliative and focussed on achievement, in order to fulfil their potential and ensure that they are enabling everyone to achieve their best and to have their “wings to fly”.
Having gained a degree in Social Sciences from Swansea University and then a PGCE qualification from Oxford, she went on to gain her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and Management and is a qualified Executive Coach and Mentor. She is an advocate of life-long learning and has gained the NPQH, TEFL Diploma, Diploma in Child Psychology and a Diploma in School Counselling.
Mrs Sealey worked in the UK for over twenty years. She was an outstanding headteacher, lectured at local universities, worked for the National College of School Leadership and was an accredited Ofsted Inspector. She was also very involved in projects focussing not only on raising academic achievement within schools but also with those that improved levels of pastoral care, inclusivity and safeguarding.
In 2012 Mrs Sealey moved to Dubai with her husband and two youngest children. She has since worked in Uganda, Malaysia and India. She has held the position of Senior Leader in the schools in which she has worked, taking the lead on; Inclusion, Safeguarding, Professional Development, Teacher Training, School Improvement and Parent Engagement and Partnership. She is a COBIS Peer Accreditor and led the COBIS accreditation process in three schools over the past nine years.
She has also, during her time abroad, worked for two NGOs in Uganda and Cambodia, working as an Adviser to the Ministry and other Education Officers to support them in improving the quality of teaching and learning and Educational Planning, with a focus on improving inclusive practices, action research and use and analysis of data.
Mrs Sealey enjoys spending time as a family at their home in Totnes, Devon with their six children, partners and two grandchildren. Holidays are often spent exploring the moors or spending time at the seaside crabbing, swimming or exploring rockpools. She enjoys art and craft activities, but is still an amateur and is also learning to play the guitar and improve her French. She also loves cats!!! She enjoys travelling and exploring new places with her husband and is very interested in learning about different countries, cultures and traditions and becoming involved with local activities and meeting new people.
Mrs Sealey is very excited about joining the British International School Casablanca, with her husband, and feels privileged to be given the opportunity to establish a new Achievement Centre, taking the role of SENCO, leading a team and working with all members of the school community to support the school in developing its inclusive educational provision; SEND, ELL and Gifted and Talented. She has been a SENCO and set up and line managed Achievement Centres for over 25 years and is looking forward to meeting and getting to know students, parents and staff, using her knowledge, experience and expertise to support the school in achieving its vision and providing a“World Class” educational experience for all members of the BISC community.

´Ferdi´ is the acronym for ´Fernandez´and ´Diaz´ because both my mother and father are equally important to me.
I hold a Bachelor´s Degree in Primary School Education (my main subjects are Special Educational Needs and English as a Foreign Language) and a Master´s Degree in English Studies. I have worked with Children ever since I completed my Higher Education. I am an experienced international teacher and I have worked in London, Dubai, Cairo and Frankfurt, where I worked as a happy English Native Speaker and Montessori teacher for a few years.
Throughout these 9 years I have learned a lot about teaching children with EAL in an international primary classroom setting.
I am a strong believer in lifelong learning, in following the individual needs and interests, and in encouraging the students to believe in themselves and their potential.
I encourage an environmental commitment to sustainability and on promoting the love for reading, hence I published my own children´s books (´Emma, Tom & Friends´) As an author, it was important to me to break stereotypes and celebrate the differences between individuals. I know any student can make a big difference in the world.
I hope I will make a positive contribution to the BISC family.
